Hints & Tips

Custom images for your listings

If you want custom images to be displayed in your listings, this can be done with a use of extended properties that have to be added to inventory items. Extended property Name should be IMAGE1, IMAGE2 etc. You can add up to 12 such extended properties to each item (IMAGE12 will be the last one). Image URL has to be entered as extended property Value. If this has been done, images specified in extended properties will be displayed in listing template along with the pictures that have been preloaded in Linnworks (in the Description tab of the Edit Item menu in Linnworks).

It is also possible to use thumbnail images. In order to use thumbnail you should upload 2 images on your hosting. First one should be titled like "tumbnail_YourImageTitleHere.jpg" (we know that thumbnail is spelled incorrectly) and the other one should be just "YourImageTitleHere.jpg". Then, if you add extended property attribute IMAGE1 with value "http://yourdomain.com/tumbnail_YourImageTitleHere.jpg", LinnLive will get both pictures.

If you want to restrict these images to be displayed on a specific channel only, then specify channel name in the extended property. Eg. EBAY_IMAGE1, EBAY_IMAGE2, .., EBAY_IMAGE12; AMAZON_IMAGE1, AMAZON_IMAGE2 etc.

Protecting listings from being updated/revised

In order to restrict listing from being updated and/or revised, channel specific extended property has to be added to inventory item. E.g. EBAY_READONLY, AMAZON_READONLY, MAGENTO_READONLY. Value for the extended property has to be True. If such extended property is added, then during listing update/revision listing will be locked.

Cannot edit/create listing from inventory screen, as item is out of stock

If item is out of stock and you need to create or edit listing, positive stock has to be set through Linnworks or another location where Linnworks derives stock from has to be selected in Inventory screen in Linnworks.

Preventing items from being listed on certain channels

In order to restrict items from being listed on specific channels, channel specific extended property has to be added to products. Extended property name is DO_NOT_LIST_AMAZON /DO_NOT_LIST_EBAY or DO_NOT_LIST_AMAZON_Merchant_Name /DO_NOT_LIST_EBAY0 (depending on your needs). Extended property value has to be True. This extended property can also be used for Magento and BigCommerce.

When submitting a variation listing, items with this extended property will be excluded from the variation listing. Single item listing will not be created on the channel, unless this extended property is removed from the item.
If a variation product is already listed on the channel and you want to remove some variations from the listing, this can be achieved by adding the extended property to the item that you want to remove. Once added, you will need to locate the listing in the Inventory screen, right-click on it and select Edit Selected. A new window will open where you will need to click Update. Note, that at the moment this is the only way to send the changes to the channel. Clicking the Revise Selected button in the Configurators section will not work.

eBay

Autoselect eBay category or store category when creating new listings

It is possible to select category item will be listed in with a use of extended property. Extended property name has to be EBAY_CATEGORY, EBAY_CATEGORY2 , STORE_CATEGORY, STORE_CATEGORY2 (depending on your needs). Extended property Value should be category ID or its exact name (like idsplayed in LinnLive config).

For example, EBAY_CATEGORY: "Toys > Baby > Cars".

Please do not forget that all categories should be prefilled in eBay configurator. You can specify up to 500 for each configurator.

Once a listing has been created with these extended properties, the only way to change the selected categories is manually from the template. Listing  Adjustment will not work for this purpose.

Autoselect configurator from extended properties

In your inventory you should specify extended property like EBAY_CONFIGURATOR. This attribute should contain exact configurator name like in LinnLive. When submitting a listing, you need to choose mode "Without Configurators". Then LinnLive will automatically assign the configurator from the extended properties.

Note: When using this to list a variation product, main variation item should contain extended property EBAY_CONFIGURATOR. Also,
make sure the configurator you choose has got at least one variation option.

Autoselect subtitle from extended properties

In your inventory you should specify extended property like EBAY_SUBTITLE. Then LinnLive will automatically take subtitle from this extended property.

HTML Editor is breaking description

You can always change editor to Simple one, which will upload character to character description on eBay. To switch to a Simple editor, go to Configs -> Configs ->Ebay.
Once you have switched your editor type, you will need to remove the HTML from the editor, and paste it back in before you save the editor.

Adding custom label to multi-variation listings

You can specify extended property ParentSKU for main product in your variation group in order to add custom label for your multi-variation listing.

Overwriting listings categories by using extended properties

Property names should be written like EBAY_CATEGORY_UK or EBAY_CATEGORY2_UK or EBAY_CATEGORY_US or EBAY_CATEGORY_DE etc. and contain category IDs as values. Then these categories will be automatically taken each time during update/creation of the listing.

If category needs to be updated, IDs for the new categories have to be changed in extended properties of the item and listing needs to be updated. It will not be possible to change these categories manually in the templates.

Use shipping discount profile ID via extended properties

If you have shipping discount profiles set up on eBay, you can select a profile ID via extended properties. Add extended property containing Discount Profile ID as a value to your product. In eBay configurator under Shipping click Shipping Discount Profile ID and select relevant extended property. Underneath, from the section where all your disount profiles are displayed, you may select one that will be used as default when no extended property for Shipping Discount Profile ID is specified.

Multiple eBay listing Titles, Prices and Descriptions for different countries

If you need to submit multiple listings of the same item with different titles and for different countries, you will need to specify listing titles in the Listing Descriptions section beforehand. SubSource should be written like EBAY1_1_UK, EBAY1_2_UK and so on. Once this is done you can proceed with creation of the listings as normal (right-click item >> Create Listings). When listing on UK channel, LinnLive will notice that the item has several different titles for UK channel and create a separate listing for each title where SubSource has UK at the end.

Note: titles specified for UK channel will be used only on UK site and will be disregarded when listing on other sites.

Adjusting listings with multiple images in bulk

It is possible to adjust images via extended properties or add more images to listings in bulk using Listing Adjustment -> Update Images option.

Single listing adjustment: It is possible to select up to 12 images for a listing by specifying image URLs in extended properties (EBAY_IMAGE1 EBAY_IMAGE12). After single listing adjustment with the Update Images option enabled, only images specified in the extended properties (EBAY_IMAGE1 - EBAY_IMAGE12) will be used in the listing, all other images will be disabled.

Variation listing adjustment: It is possible to select up to 12 variation pictures for your parent variation item by specifying image URLs in extended properties of the parent variation item as EBAY_IMAGE1, EBAY_IMAGE2 etc. (up to 12). EBAY_IMAGE1 will be set as the main image of the variation listing.
It is also possible to select up to 12 images for each variation child item. Image URLs have to be specified in extended properties of variation child item as EBAY_VARIATION_IMAGE1, EBAY_VARIATION_IMAGE2 etc. (up to 12).

During listing adjustment with the Update Images option enabled, system will check if your variation child items have images specified in the extended properties (EBAY_VARIATION_IMAGE1- EBAY_VARIATION_IMAGE12). If a variation child item has such extended property assigned to it, then the picture specified in the extended property will be used, otherwise system will use images that have been uploaded in Linnworks and will also look for other images specified in extended properties (e.g. IMAGE1, IMAGE2 or EBAY_IMAGE1, EBAY_IMAGE2 etc).

After listing adjustment only one image will appear in the listing (even if there were more images before and only one more was supposed to be added). All other images will start uploading in the background** and once done, listing will be automatically updated (also in the background). Once the operation is completed, there will be no notification. You will only be notified, if an error occurs. To check whether or not the images have been uploaded, you need to open the listing on eBay.

Note: In order to run the background processes LinnLive has to stay open.

** The process of uploading images to eBay is very time consuming.

Amazon

Creating products in "Everything Else" category

If you want to use

"Everything Else" category for your Amazon listings, you should choose "Miscellaneous" as Category and "Misc_Other" as SubType in configurator settings. In this case you do not have to specify product barcode.

P.S. This category is allowed only for Amazon.com and Amazon.ca sites.

Avoid HTML tags getting stripped from description

You can find the complete list of HTML tags and CSS attributes allowed on Amazon at the following link.

Swatch Image

Use Extended property AMAZON_SWATCH_IMAGE to specify a swatch image.

You can have the same image URL for product image and swatch image, but file extension for the swatch image must be written in capital letters. In this case system will treat them as two different URLs.

Example:

AMAZON_IMAGE1 = http://yourimagehosting.com/image.jpg
AMAZON_SWATCH_IMAGE = http://yourimagehosting.com/image.JPG

Note: This only works for new listings. If the item is already listed, you will not be able to add swatch images to the listing.

Adjusting listings in bulk with multiple images

It is possible to adjust images via extended properties or add more images to listings in bulk using Listing Adjustment option.

Single listing adjustment: It is possible to select images for a listing by specifying image URLs in extended properties (AMAZON_IMAGE1, AMAZON_IMAGE2 etc). AMAZON_IMAGE1 is the main image. Depending on Amazon Category listing can have one main image and 5 to 8 additional images.

Variation listing adjustment: image URLs have to be specified in extended properties as AMAZON_VARIATION_IMAGE1, AMAZON_VARIATION_IMAGE2 etc. AMAZON_VARIATION_IMAGE1 is the main image of the variation. Each variation has its own main image. Depending on Amazon category each variation item can have 5 to 8 images in addition to the main item.

Note: Using Listing Adjustment -> Update Images option to update images will disable all other images and will use only those specified with the use of extended properties.
